Hays County Busted Mugshots is a private reference site, not a Hays County office or another government office. We cannot confirm custody, verify a release, post a bond, deliver a message to a detainee, or obtain an official booking record. For those matters, contact the responsible public office directly. Messages sent through the site are for technical issues, broken links, or factual corrections about the site’s own content; they do not reach or bind the Sheriff’s Office, jail, court, or city police department.

Hays County Records Contacts

Hays County uses different offices for a current jail record, a police report, a court case, and a release alert. Start with the source that matches the question. The Sheriff’s Office and the Corrections Bureau are separate physical locations, even though both are part of the Hays County system. HCSO says releases are processed 24 hours a day, but release timing can depend on more than one process and the jail does not set court dates.

Use the HCSO Corrections Bureau for official jail information and release-status instructions.

The following routes help place a request with the office that holds the record. They do not guarantee that a record is public or that a requested item can be released.

  • For current Hays County jail custody or jail-record details, use the official Tyler Public Access portal and compare the person’s name, dates, agency, and booking number.
  • For an existing HCSO booking record, jail record, or other county-held item, use the Hays County Public Information Request portal. The county states that it responds within 10 business days, subject to Texas law, clarification, lawful exceptions, and any authorized fees.
  • For a Buda, Kyle, San Marcos, or other city police report, contact the police records unit for the arresting agency. A city report and a Hays County Jail booking record may be held by different custodians.
  • For a felony case or court-date question, contact the Hays County District Clerk at 512-393-7660. For a misdemeanor case, contact the Hays County Clerk at 512-393-7330. The Hays County Courts Records Inquiry is the public case-search starting point.
  • For a release notification rather than a public custody search, enroll with IVSS or call 866-268-8959. The service is available 24 hours a day in English and Spanish.
  • For a person committed to Texas state prison, use the Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmate search. It is a state-prison custody source, not a same-day Hays County booking system.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the official Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. Those systems cover different custody populations from the Hays County Jail.

If a private-site message concerns an apparent error, include the page address, a short description of the issue, and an official source where available. A report about a government record is not the same as a request to correct that record. Send record corrections, court orders, and public-information requests to the government custodian that maintains the underlying material.
